The practical answer

Fixed recordings, local recording and cloud-connected conversation are distinct product architectures. Begin by naming the experiences the product must support and what it should do without a connection. The phrase AI toy does not define hardware, service provider, content policy or user experience. A plush character image should never be treated as proof that any particular connected feature is included.

02

Identify the complete delivery boundary

Write down who supplies the device hardware, embedded software, connectivity, application and any remote service. Clarify the access and documentation available to the buyer. A hardware quotation may not include cloud operation, account setup, integration work or future software changes. Identify those boundaries before comparing unit prices or promising a launch date.

03

Specify setup and everyday behaviour

Describe first-time setup, language selection, controls, indicators and the expected behaviour during a connection failure. Define how the owner changes settings and how the product is supported later. Use concrete scenarios during sample review: a demonstration under ideal connectivity does not settle how the product behaves in the intended environment.

04

Discuss data and content responsibilities

Map what information is handled by the device and any connected service, who controls it and what instructions are provided to the buyer and end user. Define age-appropriate interaction and the review of generated or supplied content as project requirements. Obtain the relevant product, service and market assessments from qualified specialists rather than assuming a general product catalogue establishes compliance.

05

Plan ongoing operation alongside manufacturing

Confirm the service model, account ownership, support responsibilities, update process and what happens when a provider changes a service. Put any ongoing charges and dependencies into the project scope. Keep a record of the tested hardware and software versions. An approved outer sample and a working demonstration are useful milestones, but the commercial delivery must describe the complete operating product.
